The spy software isn't something new, but in the last years it's going to be used more and more, for example the Carnivore of the FBI, is one of the oldest software in this genre and was used to give the agency(FBI) access to the online/e-mail activities of suspected criminals. But now it seems that comercial esdropping software replaced the controversial carnivore since few years ago.

A few of years ago the author of WSL was looking for a keylogger with low cost and additional functions for screenshoots, to install in his own computer,he revised severals commercial keyloggers starting with Family Key Logger, Spy Buddy, PC ACME, etc. His native languaje was spanish and was imposible to find one spy software who will let him to use accents and save logs with accents at the same time. The most "professional" in spy software still remains with the price of about $150, you can't try to use the keylogger and use your favorite word processor without having problems with the accents. To provide a solution to expensive monitoring software and keyloggers was created WinSession Logger and it's first commercial version was available from the year 2004, in October 2003 was available the first beta version for testers.
